Dwight "Irv" Irvin Sayers, Jr., age 43, of Red Lake, Minnesota began his journey to the spirit world on Monday, July 30, 2018 from Red Lake, MN. Irv was born in Red Lake, MN on January 1, 1975, the son of Carolyn (Downwind) and Dwight Sayers, Sr.

Irv grew up and went to school in Red Lake, graduating from Red Lake High School in 1993. After finishing high school, he attended Northwest Technical College/New Beginnings for Carpentry in 2001-2002. Irv went on to work for Red Lake Builders, the Red Lake Fishery, Red Lake Food Distribution, New Beginnings, and the Red Lake Casino. He was a life-long fisherman, one of the things he loved to do most. He also liked hunting and just being outdoors. Irv had a very big heart and was always willing to help anyone out. He made sure everyone around him was good before thinking of himself. He would have carried you on his back if he had to. Irv lived at home with his mother and father, who he cared for every day. Irv was a handyman and enjoyed fixing, or "rigging" as he would say, things around the house and for anyone who asked. He also played softball for the Red Lake Chiefs for many years. His nieces and nephews looked up to him, he enjoyed spending time with them and fixing their bikes. Irv had two very special girls, Ava and Ceigh, who called him "Daddy". They were his world and he was their "Rock". Everyone knew Irv for his kindness and humor. He was a New Years baby and always looked forward to celebrating his birthday. Irv's heart was huge and yet he was fearless.

Irv is welcomed to the spirit world by his grandparents; Francis and Dorothy Downwind and Matthew and Ethel Sayers, his best friends; Donnie "Grease" Cook, Jr. and Clayton Cobenais, special cousins; Harley Sayers, Brion Sayers and Rose Downwind, special uncles; Billy Sayers and George Downwind, numerous aunties and uncles.

Family he leaves behind to cherish his memory are his parents; Carolyn and Dwight "Iggy" Sayers, Sr., his son; Dillon Sayers, five special daughters; Ava and Ceigh Sayers, Janelle and Jo Cobenais and Erin Hegstrom, brothers; Bruce and Randy (Jessica) Sayers, Sr., sister; Kerry Ann Sayers, nieces; Lichelle, Kaliann, Lacy and Macy Sayers and Breanna Cook, nephews; Bruce Jr., Brennan, Ayden and Randy Sayers, Jr., great nieces and nephews; Malikai Sayers, Amarah May, Kelise, Aristea, Janet and Rishawn Graves and his special friend; Dawn Kier.

A wake for Irv will begin at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 4th and continue until his 10:00 a.m. traditional service on Monday, August 6th all being held at the Red Lake Community Center in Red Lake, MN. Waa-maajaa'iwed is Steve Jackson. Pallbearers for Irv will be Randy Sayers, Sr., William "Bee" Sayers, Ramon Sayers, Roderick Sayers, Craig Sayers, Dillon Sayers, Robbie Cook, Sr., Matthew Sayers, Brian "Pun" Sumner and Dave Dudley. Alternate pallbearer is John Cobenais. His honorary pallbearers are Matthew Graves, Jeremy Martin, Ian Lussier, Bruce Sayers, Jr., Randy Sayers, Jr., Brennan Sayers, Malikai Sayers, Kristi Fairbanks, Leah S. Cook, Ayden Sayers, Kaliann Sayers, Lichelle Sayers, Raynelle Roberts, Ravonna Roberts, Shayna Roberts, Ava Sayers, Ceigh Sayers, Michelle May Pemberton, Roderick McKenzie, Mary Ellen Cook, Fabian Sayers, Sr., Fabien Cloud, Lydell Cook, Kim Cook, Kevin Cook, Cody Cook, Senora Beaulieu, Rod Spears, George Graves, Francis Gerring, Desmond Gerring, Salina Jones, Jeremy Spears, Dave Downwind, Kyle Garrigan, Sharon Cook and Dawn Kier. Interment will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at Red Lake, MN following his services.
