Colleen Marie Lussier

December 1, 1981 ~ July 25, 2018 (age 36)

Colleen Marie Lussier "Animikiikwe" (Thunder Bird Woman), age 36, of Red Lake, Minnesota, began her journey to the spirit world from Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, North Dakota, on Wednesday, July 25, 2018.

Colleen was born on December 1, 1981, to Rita and Collins Lussier, Sr. in Bemidji, Minnesota. She grew up in Red Lake and was a lively and energetic child during that time while attending school. While working for her GED, Colleen also worked at Seven Clans Casino in Thief River Falls and later at Red Lake Hospital in Contract Health. Becoming a mother at a young age, it was her children who gave her life meaning. Spending time with her six children and nieces and nephews and other kids in the community is what gave her joy. She loved singing and dancing, attending pow wows, and listening to music. As a teenager, she joined the dancers in her jingle dress. She also had a heart for her dogs DOG (DeeOhGee) and Tara. Colleen had a gift of helping others, always ready to lend a hand to someone in need.

Colleen is welcomed to the spirit world by her infant son Daniel James Lussier, brother John David Lussier, and grandparents Douglas and Delores Lussier and Dave Lussier.

Colleen will be greatly missed by her mother and father; daughter Latausha Parkhurst and sons Vincent Parkhurst Jr., Antonio Parkhurst, DeMarquez Lussier, Ryan Barrett Jr. and little bro Sonjay Lussier; sisters Crystal (Allan) Lussier, Sonja (Jason) Lussier, Shyleen Lussier, and Amanda (Lawrence) Lussier; brothers Cheyenne (Arlene) Lussier, Adrian (Loni) Lussier, and Collins (Samantha) Lussier Jr.; grandmother Shirley Lussier; and fathers of her children Mike Parkhurst, Ryan Barrett Sr and Mike Dominguez Jr.

A wake for Colleen will begin 6:00 PM Monday, July 30 at the Red Lake Community Center and will continue until the service on Wednesday, August 1, at 10:00 AM, also at the Community Center. Serving as spiritual leader will be Steve Jackson. Burial will follow at the Lussier Family Burial Grounds.

Pallbearers for Colleen are Vincent Parkhurst Jr., Antonio Parkhurst, DeMarquez Lussier, Cheyenne Lussier, Adrian Lussier, Collins Lussier Jr., Devin Neadeau, and Will Kingbird. The family wishes to remember as honorary pallbearers especially Colleen's sisters and all family and friends present.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Dennis Funeral Home of Walker, Minnesota.
