Babaamaajimowinan (Telling of news in different places)
More than a dozen rising third-graders sat in a Lewis & Clark Elementary School classroom last Wednesday. Their feet dangled from their chairs while they eyed their teacher, Courtney Torres, as she went over vocabulary words.
Torres paced the classroom and then settled behind a lectern. For Torres, the seemingly inconsequential decisions as to where to stand and what to do were as unfamiliar as the vocabulary words for her students. She, like them, is a pupil of sorts.
