Katherine Masquot-Roy, age 61, of Waubun, MN, died Friday, July 13, 2018, at Essentia Health Systems in Fargo, ND.

Katherine Louise Masquot was born January 29, 1957, in Albert Lee, MN, the daughter of Robert and Leila (Picotte) Masquot. Her youth was spent in St. Paul, MN, and she attended and graduated from Flandreau Indian School. Kathy furthered her education at Haskell College in Kansas followed by Rasmussen Community College as a legal secretary. Kathy met her husband, Robert, in 1985. The couple made their home in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area for many years before settling in Waubun 10 years ago. They have been blessed with four daughters and two grandchildren.

Kathy loved to be around family and friends and had a special love and compassion for animals, especially her four-legged friends: Scruffy, Vanilla and Cubby. She was an accomplished seamstress and cook, all self-taught. Kathy sewed many beautiful items for family and friends and made the best fry bread around. Although she preferred to be at home she did love a trip to the casino! Even though she's gone to soon, Kathy will live on in the hearts of many forever.

Kathy is survived by her husband of 33 years, Robert Roy, Waubun; daughters: Roberta Roy, Waubun, Rochelle (Talin) Richard, S St. Paul, MN, Nevaeh Roy, Waubun, and Sandra Renteria, St. Paul; two grandchildren, Zalaila Roy-Richard and Raiden Richard; her mom, Leila Picotte, St. Paul; brother Abel Decora, St. Paul, sisters, Kathleen (Steve Brown) Littlewalker and Renee Decora, both St. Paul; nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Masquot, brothers, Raphael and Timothy; and sister Sheila Whiteeagle.

Local services will be held Sunday, July 15, 2018, at the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Mahnomen, MN, from 5:00 until 7:00 pm with a prayer service beginning at 6:30 pm.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 11 :00 am at All Saints Episcopal Indian Mission in Minneapolis, MN, with visitation at the church beginning at 6:00 pm on Monday, July 16th and going until the time of the funeral. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery, St. Paul, MN.
