Feds charge former tribal officer with theft

A former Umatilla Tribal Police officer has pleaded not guilty to stealing from the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation.

James Currey retired from tribal police on March 31, according to Chuck Sams, spokesperson for the tribes. Currey was a fish and game officer. He worked for tribal police since July 2004.
