MEDIA ALERT: Celebrate Independence Day at MNHS Sites Around the State

On Fourth of July, several MNHS sites are set to commemorate the holiday history style.

At Historic Fort Snelling’s Independence Day Celebration, visitors can experience infantry parades, a mock War of 1812 battle, cannon and musket firings and more to explore Minnesota’s military legacy. Plus, engage with interactive stations to explore many Americans’ struggles for freedom and independence throughout history, then stop by the new “Courage and Compassion” exhibit to learn about Japanese-American history during World War II.

Or head to Farmer’s Fourth of July at Oliver Kelley Farm or 1899 Independence Day Celebration at Historic Forestville to experience what Independence Day was like in the 19th century. Then enjoy an ice cream social, lawn games and more during an evening at James J. Hill House.
