Bemidji Pioneer: Racers open season at Bemidji Speedway

BEMIDJI -- Drivers were excited to get the season underway and the fans filled the grandstand at Bemidji Speedway for the start of the racing season on Sunday, May 27, with the first day of the two-day Memorial Day Weekend Special. The fans were excited to watch 89 cars on Sunday and 92 on Monday battle on the newly-renovated 1/4 mile high-banked oval. Joining the action was the Northern Vintage Racers who brought their classic race cars from around the region.

Next Sunday the track will host the Advantage RV Modified Tour. Many of the top Wissota Modified drivers from the tri-state area will be on hand for the third stop in the 13-race tour. They will be racing for the $1,500 first-place prize, and more for the overall tour champion. Super Stocks and Mini Stocks will not race next Sunday, and the races will start at 6 p.m.
