JCPS wants to give up $15M federal grant for early childhood education

Jefferson County Public Schools wants to give up roughly $15 million in federal funding for early childhood education, but officials say they have a plan to reach more 3- and 4-year-old children with better quality services.

Under the plan, set to be voted on by the school board on Tuesday, the district would assume all early childhood program responsibilities, including cost, and focus solely on students who are 3 or 4, no longer providing services to children younger than age 3.
