June Press Release Headwaters Open-Mic CoffeeHouse

Headwaters Music and Art of Bemidji announces its open-mic CoffeeHouse Friday, June 1 at 7 pm. Sign-up begins at 6:30. Held on the first Friday of most months, the CoffeeHouse features open-mic music and spoken word performance in a supportive and family-friendly environment. Good coffeehouse fare is available courtesy of Cantabria Coffee Co.

Area performer and vocal instructor Kari Grace is excited to serve as this month’s host. “The

Coffeehouse never ceases to amaze me,” Grace noted. “I love the nurturing environment and quality performances.”

April’s CoffeeHouse featured a violin/guitar duo, a singer/songwriter recording artist, folk melodies shared on a hand-crafted banjo—and much more.

All ages and skill levels are encouraged to sign up for a 10 to 15 minute set. Admission is $3/person or $7/family.

Grace cited highlights from her career, including singing for Norwegian royalty, achieving finalist status in a Schubert Club Competition, and singing alongside artists in residence at the Landmark Center. “I'm looking forward to providing a poetic opportunity at the CoffeeHouse through lyrics and spoken word,” Grace added.

The CoffeeHouse will take a summer break for July and August. It will return in September.

Headwaters Open-Mic CoffeeHouse is a volunteer-led community event. Contact John Henningsgaard at 444-9845 for more information.
