Saluting local law enforcement - Mille Lacs Band Tribal Police Department

The Mille Lacs Band Police Department is a full-time police department of 21 full-time, POST-certified officers and an additional six staff members.

The department is led by police chief Sara Rice, who is a member of the Minnesota Board of Peace Officer Standards and Training – the first tribal police chief to ever serve on the POST Board. POST licenses more than 10,500 active peace officers and more than 250 active part-time peace officers.
