Fentanyl deaths on the rise in MN, and addicts don't even know what they're taking

More opioid addicts are unknowingly taking the powerful synthetic painkiller fentanyl — and it’s killing them.

Deaths related to synthetic opioids rose 74 percent between 2016 and 2017 with fentanyl being a factor in 156, or 91 percent, of those fatalities. Overall, all opioid deaths rose from 395 in 2016 to 401 in 2017, but those numbers are preliminary and could change.
