'It was just a wall of flame': Grass fire destroys five homes on Standing Buffalo Dakota First Nation

A grass fire claimed five homes on Standing Buffalo Dakota First Nation on Sunday, but Chief Rodger Redman says it could have been much worse.

Redman, Standing Buffalo’s chief, was helping the reserve’s fire department try to save homes during the fire. He described flames coming right up to the front steps of some houses, and smoke so thick that it created white-out conditions.
