Yakima schools teach students about online dangers

As the world continues to transition from analog to digital, educators agree it’s important for students to know how to be responsible when surfing the web.

That’s why state lawmakers last year ordered schools to begin introducing concepts about online safety and responsibility. Dennis Small, education technology director for the state Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, said those lessons range anywhere from annual assemblies about the dangers of the internet to full-blown units on digital citizenship incorporated into curricula.
