Minnesota's TOUCHSTONE ENERGY Cooperatives to Help State Parks

Minnesota's Touchstone Energy Cooperatives will once again join together to help spruce up our state park system for project GreenTouch. GreenTouch Day, when electric cooperative employees and members volunteer in various parks throughout the state, is set for Saturday, May 5, 2018.

Locally, Beltrami Electric Cooperative employees and members will work together at Lake Bemidji State Park from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Participants help rake leaves, clean picnic shelters, clean campground areas and provide general maintenance.

Every electric cooperative that participates in project GreenTouch is a member of Minnesota's Touchstone Energy Cooperatives, a collection of rural electric cooperatives throughout the state that have the same values. Touchstone Energy is a co-brand shared by cooperatives across the nation to convey what local electric cooperatives stand for: Integrity, Accountability, Community Involvement and Innovation.

GreenTouch Day, and the sponsorship of Minnesota State Parks and Trails, fits well with the Touchstone Energy commitment. During the past 18 years, Minnesota's Touchstone Energy Cooperatives has organized 9,352 volunteers to donate more than 33,443 hours and provided funds to help publish the Guide to Minnesota State Parks and Trails.

"We're very grateful to Minnesota's Touchstone Energy Cooperatives for their longstanding commitment to Minnesota state parks," said Erika Rivers, director of Minnesota State Parks and Trails. "All those extra helping hands are much needed and appreciated."

You need not be a member to volunteer and no park sticker is needed that day for volunteers. To be a part of GreenTouch Day and help our Minnesota state parks, R.S.V.P. by calling Angela Lyseng at Beltrami Electric at 218-444-3689 or email alyseng@beltramielectric.com.
