Homeless shelter accountant stole 300 identities to pay bills, prosecutors say

A Woodbury man is accused of stealing the identities of more than 300 people — including some who donated to the Minneapolis homeless shelter where he worked — to pay his daughter’s tuition at a private high school and other expenses.

Through his accounting job at House of Charity, Hai Jay Phu Vu used personal information on donors to buy merchandise, make unauthorized withdrawals from bank accounts and apply for credit cards, according to a criminal complaint filed Thursday in Washington County District Court in Stillwater.
