ICEMAN SEEKS ELECTION TO BECOME RED LAKE DISTRICT REPRESENTATIVE

RED LAKE, MN, March 16, 2018 – My name is Michael A. Iceman and I will seek election to become Red Lake District Representative for the great Red Lake Nation. This decision was not an easy one to make, after lengthy discussion with my family and taking my kids into consideration I feel the time is right to become a leader of the Red Lake Nation.

I was born and raised in Red Lake, my parents are Ervin Iceman Sr. And Sherilyn Iceman. I am the father of 6 amazing kids. I graduated in 1994 as the valedictorian of the Red Lake High School. I joined the United States Marine Corps in 1999 and was Honorably discharged in 2003. In 2005 I joined the United States Army and retired in 2012.

Why did I decide to seek election? I was told long ago that we must give this land to our kids and grandkids better than when it was given to us. With your support I know we can make that happen. In my view taking on this challenge to seek election is bigger than me or any one person. I hope to bring everyone together, so we can solve the issues and problems that face our Nation.

How do we tackle some of the problems and issues? I don't have the answers right now, but I will work diligently for the people to help solve those problems and issues. Leaders must ask the hard questions and hold people accountable. We must eliminate complacency throughout our Nation more importantly we must never allow our leaders to become complacent. I am in the information gathering stage of my campaign, I plan on meeting with all our leaders in the next couple weeks to find out what challenges they face and what is working. We must ensure our leaders take into consideration the voices of the Red Lake Nation people during the decision-making process.

In this letter I won't say what I can and can't do because I believe that limits me. I must be adaptable each day due to the complexity of our Nation. As I gather information my focus will shift to individual problem areas.

We must not get tunnel vision and focus only on the problems and issues. We must look at the positive areas as well. I believe even when things are good we can still look for ways to improve. We must grow each day first as individuals then as a Nation.

To the people of the great Red Lake nation I need your votes, so we can start the growth process of our Nation. I challenge each voter not to vote for the popular candidate but for the one who has the best interest of the people. I ask each voter to do one thing stop for a second and look at your kids and grandkids and ask yourself how will our Nation be when they are adults. Remember we must give this land to them one day! Together we can give it to them better then when given to us.

To the other candidates first I commend all of you, it takes a lot to be willing to take on the responsibility as Red Lake Representative. I will never disrespect either of you personally, but if need be I will challenge your views. This shouldn't turn into a confrontational election between candidates. We are asking to be leaders, we should set the example for our Nation. I look forward to discussions/debates with each candidate.

HELP ME HELP YOU!

Michael A. Iceman
