Letter: Floyd" Buck" Jourdain

Boozhoo, members of the Red Lake Nation,

My name is Floyd" Buck" Jourdain. I am running for Tribal Chairman and am respectfully asking for your vote on May 16th in the tribal election. I was born and raised in Red Lake where I live with my wife Gina and our family. I am passionate about Red Lake leadership, tribal government and serving the Red Lake people. I served as Chairman from 2004 to 2014. It was my honor and privilege to be elected to the tribal Council.

My leadership philosophy is simple, treat others with the same respect that you would expect in return. This principle is recognized universally as the golden rule. I bring with me a positive attitude, strong work ethic and a proven record of results. But, none of this would have been possible without you, the tribal members who placed your faith in me and allowed me the opportunity to work for you for ten years as Chairman.

I have seen our tribe struggle over the past four years. I want to re-establish strong leadership at Red Lake with professional administration that knows how to work with people rather than micromanaging them and stifling their creativity. Good leaders pull people up instead of pushing them down. I believe in our people, and I believe in Red Lake. I love our land, and lakes, and I pledge to protect our sovereignty.

If elected I will establish government that treats our band members, and friends with respect. Everybody's concerns are important, whether it be elders, youth, parents, and children. I will be a voice for all of you. I will be responsible, accountable, transparent, and accessible. I am humbly asking you, our band members for another opportunity to lead the Red Lake Nation. Let us "Rise Up" and change our nation for the better.

Miigwetch

Floyd" Buck" Jourdain
