Bemidji Pioneer: New AIM chapter in Bemidji formed

BEMIDJI -- Local indigenous activists hope to take on racism and discrimination through a new Bemidji chapter of the American Indian Movement.

Curt Buckanaga, the chapter’s cofounder, has high hopes for the group and hopes it can bring about change where other efforts have failed. Buckanaga wants to take on inequities in Bemidji’s housing, business and criminal justice systems in a targeted, effective and “cerebral” way; and he wants to start now.
