Former Red Lake Chairman Floyd Jourdain seeks re-election.

RED LAKE - Former Red Lake Nation Tribal Chairman Floyd "Buck" Jourdain has announced his candidacy and is seeking re-election to the Red Lake Tribal Council as Chairman. Citing a lack of economic progress, ineffective government administration and increased social problems, Jourdain felt obligated to seek leadership." The overall moral of our tribe is at an extremely low level," said Jourdain who recently attended the Red Lake Nation State of the Band address delivered by seated Chairman Darrell Seki Sr.

According to Jourdain there was very little in the address that indicated governmental progress over the past four years." I want to get our nation moving in a positive direction again and focus more on our band members immediate needs instead of expensive projects that over extend the bands resources." Jourdain said. Since 2014 Jourdain has helped people recovering from addictions as a chemical dependency counselor and was the recipient of the prestigious Bush fellowship for leadership development. Jourdain was one of only 26 selected from nearly 600 of the Midwest's most innovative and brightest leaders in their field. He is currently studying history, and indigenous studies at Bemidji State University.

Election Day is May 16, 2018
