Foundations flourish thanks to partnerships in 2017

(Saint Paul, Minn.) The Saint Paul & Minnesota Community Foundations today released its 2017 Year in Review. The information celebrates the organization’s collective achievements in the past year.

Foundation leadership recognizes that these achievements are only possible because of effective community partnerships that allow the organization to build upon its 75-year legacy of philanthropy and community impact.

“The board and staff of the Foundations are extremely proud of what our community partnerships have fostered. They demonstrate what is possible when committed groups of individuals work together as active agents of change. We know that dedicated partners make the work that we do possible and help us ensure that Minnesota is a place where everyone can thrive,” says Dr. Eric J. Jolly, president and CEO of The Saint Paul & Minnesota Community Foundations.

Thanks to these partnerships, 2017 marked a year of extraordinary accomplishments, including:

• $89 million granted into the community; a 34% increase from 2016.

• 16 percent endowment investment return rate for 2017; an increase of 117% over 2016

• 63 out of 87 counties in Minnesota touched by Foundation and affiliate grantmaking

• $1.25 billion total assets held by 2017 year end

• $78 million total contributions made to The Saint Paul & Minnesota Community Foundations

This year of growth allowed the Foundations to expand upon the strategic goals of advancing equity, strengthening communities and broadening philanthropic expression.
