Overnight snowfall sets a record; St. Paul declares second snow emergency

The Twin Cities arose Sunday morning to sunshine, which looked lovely on the freshly fallen snow — and there was a lot of that after an overnight storm that wound down a bit earlier than expected but was a milestone.

The National Weather Service saw 6 inches at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, which it said is a record for Feb. 24. The previous snowfall record for that date was 4.8 inches in 2007.
