Minneapolis day care provider pleads guilty to hanging toddler

A Minneapolis day care provider accused of hanging a toddler in her home pleaded guilty to attempted murder, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced Thursday.

Nataliia Karia, 43, also pleaded guilty to third-degree assault of the 16-month-old boy and two counts of criminal vehicular operation for hitting a pedestrian, another driver and a bicyclist as she fled in her minivan. Evidence in the case will be presented to Hennepin County District Judge Jay Quam on April 27 to determine sentencing, which could be up to 15 years in prison.
