Myron Joseph "Joe" Sumner, 64, whose Indian name is Mikinaak which means Turtle journeyed into the spirit world on Friday, February 9th, 2018 at Sanford Hospital in Bemidji, MN. Myron was born August 12, 1953 to Simon and Angeline (Strong) Sumner in Red Lake, MN.

Myron worked various jobs in Minneapolis and Red Lake until the time of his illness. Myron enjoyed spending time with family and friends, laughing and joking around. He loved spending time outdoors, going to the casino to play Keno, doing his crossword puzzles and going to family gatherings. Myron will be sadly missed by his family and others who knew him.

The family that welcomes Myron to the spirit world are his parents; Simon and Angeline Sumner, brothers; Richard "Dickie", Henry "Stretch", Simon "Digger" Jr. and Douglas Sumner, sister; Thelma, his significant other; Mary "Jo" Sumner and other family.

Those who he leaves behind are his two sons; Michael (Paula) Martin, Sr and Jeremy (Dawn) Martin, Sr., 14 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, sister; Betty Beaulieu, special great niece; Maytaeya Sumner (whom he helped raise), other special nieces; and nephews; Rita, Melissa, Angela, Gerald Beaulieu, Melanie, Richard Jr. and Preston Sumner and many other nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A wake for Myron will begin at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 14th and continue until his funeral services at 3:00 p.m., Friday, February 16th all being held at the Old Little Rock Community Center in Red Lake, MN. Father Jerry Rogers will officiate. Pallbearers for Myron will be James Cobenais, Duane "Ole" Spears, Sr., James "Jim Bob" Dudley, Sr., Darwin Sumner, Gerald Beaulieu, Robert "Bob" Erle, Emery Beaulieu and Richard Sumner, Jr. His honorary pallbearers are Melanie Sumner, Simone Sumner, Angela Beaulieu, Rita Beaulieu, Melissa Beaulieu, Thelma May, Preston Sumner, Harlow Spears, James Beaulieu, Jr., Delwyn "Dosh" Spears, Marlin Blue and Al Lajeunesse. Interment will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at Red Lake, MN following his Friday services.
