St. Paul teacher agreement would hike pay 1%, exhausting budget created for contract

St. Paul teachers would get 1 percent salary increases this year and next under a tentative contract agreement reached Monday under the threat of a strike.

While union rhetoric about negotiations focused on other issues, the pay raises will consume the full $4.1 million teacher contract budget that St. Paul Public Schools established last fall.
