Red Lake Warriors edged by Win-E-Mac 81-80 - P6

RED LAKE - The Red Lake Warriors hosted the Win-E-Mac Patriots on Monday, February 5, 2018, in the first game of a double-header that would also feature the Lady Warriors in the second game.

Win-E-Mac came out quickly in the first minute of play, leading 10-4 at the 15:13 mark. Half way through, they trailed by 7, 24-17. By the end of the first half the Patriots led 48-39.

Red Lake trailed in the second half until about midway through, trailing by 3 with 9 minutes left in the game, and took their first lead 69-67 with 7:31 left on the clock.

The Warriors had a chance to tie the game with just seconds remaining and trailing 81-78, but went for a 2-point play instead of trying for the 3-pointer, and Win-E-Mac took the win, 81-80.

Red Lake's Kendall Whitefeather led all scorers with 34 points, Justin Barrett added 10 and Brady Cook put in 9.

Brekken Lindberg led the Patriots with 22, Gaven Walker added 16, Mikiah Olson put in 15 and Bryce Neubert had 12.

Red Lake is now 10-9 on the season and will travel to Pine River on February 9th, Mahnomen on February 12th, will host Laporte on February 13 and finish off their regular season in Walker against Walker-Hackensack-Akley on February 23rd.

Win-E-Mac 81 at Red Lake 80

The Win-E-Mac Patirots picked up a big Sub-Section win at Red Lake on Monday night but had to withstand a late rally by the Warriors to pull of the victory. The Patriots led 48-39 at halftime and led by as many as 13 points in the second half. The Warriors would take their first lead of the game at 69-67 with 7:30 remaining in the second half only to have Win-E-Mac go on an 8-0 run to reclaim the lead. The Warriors had the ball for the last possesion of the game but scored a two point field goal instead of a three pointer they needed to tie the game. Brekken Lindberg led Win-E-Mac with 22 points and 10 rebounds as the Patritos improved to 12-7 overall and picked up their seventh win in their last eight games. Kendall Whitefeather hit eight three pointers for Red Lake and led all scorers with 34 points at Red Lake drops to 10-9 overall. Win-E-Mac will return to action on Friday, February 9th when they travel to Fertile-Beltrami. The Warriors will also play their next game on Friday, February 9th when they travel to Pine River-Backus to take on the Tigers.
