Red Lake Lady Warriors' Autumn Holthusen hits 35 as they sting Clearbrook-Gonvick 97-42 - P3

RED LAKE, MN - Almost two weeks ago on Friday, January 19, 2018 the Clearbrook-Gonvick Bears upset the Red Lake Lady Warriors in Clearbrook, 80-76, giving them their first loss in the Northland Conference.

On Tuesday, January 30th, Red Lake came out on-fire and didn't let up until the end, taking a 57-21 half-time lead and shutting down the Bear's offense, allowing them just 15 points in the second half, as they cruised to a 97-42 win.

The Lady Warriors hit nine 3-pointers in the first half alone.

Autumn Holthusen led all scorers with 35 points, Angel McClain hit for 26, Alexis Desjarlait, who was injuried in the second half, had 12, Gericka Kingbird 10 and Kelanna McClain added 8.

Cassie Faldet had 12 for the Bears and Brynn Hetland had 8 points.

Red Lake had just 4 fouls in both the first and second halves and were 13-16 from the freethrow line.

The Lady Warriors are now 17-3 on the season, 9-1 in the conference, while Clearbrook-Gonvick dropped to 15-4.

Red Lake will host Win-E-Mac on Monday, February 5th in a boys and girls double-header, host Lake of the Woods on Thursday, February 8th, before traveling to Mahnomen/Waubun on Monday, February 12th.

Red Lake's Junior Varsity lost their game earlier on the night, 51-48.

Red Lake 97 hosted Clearbrook-Gonvick 42

The Red Lake Warriors used a 16-2 run to end the first half and scored 29 unanswered points in the second half as they avenged an earlier loss to Clearbrook-Gonvick.

Sophomore Autumn Holthusen hit seven three pointers and scored a game high 35 points as the Warriors improved their overall record to 17-3 and their conference record to 9-1.

The two teams played at Clearbrook-Gonvick on January 19th with the Bears coming out on top in that game 80-76.

The game on Tuesday night was scoreless for the first two minutes but then both teams started to hit their shots with Red Lake going on an early 10-0 run to take the lead for good.

Angel McClain added 26 points for Red Lake with Alexis Desjarlait adding 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Warriors.

Cassie Faldet scored 12 points to lead Clearbrook-Gonvick and was the only player to enter double fgures in the scoring column for the Bears. Brynn Hetland added 8 points for Clearbrook-Gonvick as the Bears fall to 15-4 overall and 9-3 in the Northwoods Conference.

Red Lake will return to action on Monday, February 5th when they host the Win-E-Mac Patriots (96.7 FM). Clearbrook-Gonvick will play their next game on Thursday, February 1st when they travel to Laporte.

Clearbrook-Gonvick won the "B" Squad game over Red Lake 51-42.
