For the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe community, 2017 was a “tough” year, Chief Executive Melanie Benjamin said during the 34th annual State of the Band address before nearly 1,200 people on Tuesday, Jan. 9. Yet Band members are more awake and active than ever before, she added.
