MPS' Darienne Driver takes heat in meeting over administrator raises

Milwaukee Public Schools Superintendent Darienne Driver is facing the first major controversy of her three-year tenure, fueled by protests over the administration's decision to approve $100,000 in salary increases for administrators when teachers and others received raises that in some cases amounted to a few cents an hour.

Driver faced a deluge of questions and criticism from teachers, parents and School Board members at a Tuesday night meeting of the MPS School Board's Committee on Accountability, Finance and Personnel. And several critics suggested that she had lost their trust.
