Neopit man sentenced to federal prison for shooting on reservation

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - A Neopit man has been sentenced to more than six months in federal prison for a shooting on the Menominee Indian Reservation.

Dillon Peters, 30, was sentenced to 77 months in prison and five years probation for the crime. He pleaded guilty in Oct. 2017.

Federal prosecutors say Peters, in May 2017, pointed a gun at a woman at a home in Neopit. He fired a round through the couch on which the woman was sitting.

During sentencing, the court referred to Peters' prior tribal convictions for crimes "involving multiple victims."
