Tribal official laments sluggish process to confirm new IHS director

Lagging efforts to approve the nomination of a new director of the Indian Health Service could pose additional problems at the agency's beleaguered South Dakota hospitals, a tribal official said this week.
President Donald Trump in October nominated businessman and Quapaw tribal member Robert Weaver to the position. But almost two months later, Congress has yet to act on the appointment.
