Patrick W. Scott

(April 23, 1978 - December 18, 2017)

Patrick W. Scott, age 39, of Naytahwaush, MN, died unexpectedly, Monday, December 18, 2017.

Patrick Wayne Scott Sr. was born April 23, 1978, to Betty Ann Scott and Terrance Burnette Sr. in Mahnomen, MN. He grew up in Naytahwaush and attended school in Mahnomen. After graduating high school from Mahnomen Public School in 1996, Patrick attended the Detroit Lakes Vo-Tech working towards carpentry and auto mechanics degrees. He completed a wind turbine certification and later furthered his education at the White Earth Tribal College. Patrick was a jack of all trades, having worked several jobs including at RTC, Shooting Star Casino, White Earth Housing and Gordon's Construction. He was currently employed as a primary care attendant for his mother, Betty.

The gift to gab was something Patrick was born with. He could strike up a conversation with anyone and make them feel like a friend at the end of their conversation. He also had a sense of humor that could make anyone laugh. Patrick enjoyed spending time with family, time outdoors chopping wood, tinkering on cars, especially Penny, and completing home repairs. He was always willing to help anyone out and frequently taxied people around in one of his many cars. Patrick's free spirit and big heart will be missed by all who knew him.

Patrick is survived by his mother, Betty Ann Scott; his father, Terry Burnette Sr.; two sons, Patrick Scott Jr. and Christopher Scott, both of Naytahwaush; two sisters, Leslie Scott, Naytahwaush, and Ashley (Patrick) Kier, Mahnomen; one brother, Terrance Burnette Jr., Mahnomen; his nieces and nephew: Acacia, Amaiya, Aliya, Alianna, and Patrick Jr; his uncle, Randy Scott; and his aunts: Lorna Nelson, Jean Clark, and Sandy Scott. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Glendora and Elmer Scott, and Ada Burnette.

Friends and family can gather Thursday, December 21, 2017, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at the Old Community Center in Naytahwaush, MN. Burial will be held in the Traditional Burial Grounds, Naytahwaush, MN.
