Joel Thomas Roy Sr., 51, of Cass Lake, MN died on Friday, December 15, 2017 in Cass Lake, MN.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm, on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, 2017 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Cass Lake, MN. A wake will begin at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at the Veteran's Memorial Building in Cass Lake, MN, and will continue until the time of the service at the church. Interment following cremation will be at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Cass Lake, MN under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji.

He was born on May 27, 1966, in Cass Lake, MN, the son of Thomas and Susan (Beaulieu) Roy.

He was raised and educated in Cass Lake, graduating from Cass Lake High School in 1984. He attended Itasca Community College in Grand Rapids, MN for two years, and went on to attend the Leech Lake Tribal College, where he received his degree in Early Childhood Education. He worked and lived in a variety of places after finishing school. He worked as a machinist for Arctic Cat in Thief River Falls, MN for 8 years. In 2013 he returned to Cass Lake. He enjoyed being outdoors, and liked to work in the woods. He enjoyed playing sports, especially a lot of Softball. He loved being around children, and enjoyed spending time with his nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.

Grandchildren, Kaydence, Alayna, Brayden, Aubree,

Great-Nieces, Haleigh, Madison, Abigail, and Remilia,

Nephews, Dylan, Cedric, Alex, and Marcus.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Cliffford and Margaret Beaulieu, Morris and Josephine Roy.
