The leader of Minnesota’s Republican Party accused Gov. Mark Dayton of an “underhanded ‘House of Cards’-style move” in naming Lt. Gov. Tina Smith to replace U.S. Sen. Al Franken Tuesday.
Dayton’s motive, according to Jennifer Carnahan, chair of the Republican Party of Minnesota, had little to do with the U.S. Senate but was instead aimed at robbing the GOP of its one-vote lead in the Minnesota Senate.
