James Daniel White, Sr.

James Daniel White, Sr., "Wag Dah Du Asay" which means "Man Walking on Water", age 75, of the Loon Clan and Cass Lake, Minnesota passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at the Sanford Hospital in Bemidji, MN. Jim was born at the family home in Sugar Point, MN on September 12, 1942, the son of Rose Mary (Mitchell) and Daniel White, Sr.

Jim grew up attended school in Sugar Point, MN and in 1963, at the age of 18, he joined the United States Navy. He was stationed in Norfolk, VA until 1964 when he was honorably discharged and came home to Minnesota. Jim attended the Police Academy in Phoenix, AZ and later worked for the Mille Lacs Tribe as a Conservation Officer for many years. When he wasn't working he was busy spending time with his family and friends. Jim especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to powwows, playing bingo and gambling. Jim had an artistic talent in birch bark crafts and loved to cook for the holidays. Jim spent all his time with and holding the hand of his wife, Clarice. Jim was a very proud father, grandfather, great grandfather and veteran.

Family that Jim has been reunited with are his parents; Daniel and Rose, daughter; Kristine, sisters; Rose, Gladys, Marion and Vivian, brothers; Richard, David, Joe and Donnie, granddaughters; Tanya and Naomi, nieces; Autumn, Geraldine, Shelly, Mary and Patty, nephews; Chopper, Joe and Richard and other relatives.

Those he leaves behind to cherish his memory are his wife; Clarice (Day) White of Cass Lake, daughters; Jaylene (Calvin) White of Isle, Dana (David) Sam and Dalene Skinaway both of Onamia, Natheena (Eric) Sam of Hutchinson, Mary Sue (Phil) Flocken and Barbara White both of Champlain, sons; James White, Jr. of Isle, Deondre Sam of Minneapolis, Howard, Rodney (Glenda) and Russell "Beaver" White all of Cass Lake, sisters; Helen and Nancy White of Cass Lake, Ruth Ann (John) White of Sugar Point, Diane White of Minneapolis and Penny (Mike) French of Cass Lake, brothers; Ken (Mary) White and Daniel White both of Longville, numerous grandchildren, four great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.

A wake for Jim will begin at 7:00 p.m., Monday, December 4th and continue until his funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 6th all being held at the Veterans Memorial Building in Cass Lake, MN. Father George Ross will officiate. Pallbearers for Jim will be David Sam, Ben Moe, Adam White, Kelly Greene, Clint White, Seth Reigns-White, Lance White and James Schneider. His honorary pallbearers are all his grandchildren: Rainy, Matthew, Val, Jayenissa, Waylon "Boy", Aniyah, Anthony, Star, Chaddy, Tommy Lee, Nick, Clint, Brandan, Adam, John, Scott, Zach, Ralph, Elizabeth, Devontae, Robert, Angelique and Marcus and Barbara and Phoenix. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery at Walker, MN following his Wednesday service.
