Guadalupe Peralta and James Shaugabay – held with charges pending for St. Hilaire Assault

Two people are in custody this morning at the Pennington County Law Enforcement Center in Thief River Falls, as the investigation continues into an altercation yesterday that injured two people in St. Hilaire.

In custody; 27 year old Guadalupe Peralta and 26 year old James Shaugabay – held with charges pending; including Burglary in the First Degree against Peralta; Felon Convicted Crime of Violence against Shaugabay – although final charges will be up to the Pennington County Attourney's Office.

Sheriff Ray Kuznia said late last night their investigation is continuing, assuring the public this appears to be an isolated case, that the victims knew the suspects.

Law Enforcement were called to the home in St. Hilaire just after 9 o'clock Monday morning, after reports two men were beaten after as many as 4 armed men entered and robbed the home, fleeing in a high profile vehicle. Two victims were taken to Sanford Hospital Thief River Falls; no condition report was immediately available.

Sheriff's Deputies, the Minnesota State Patrol and Thief River Falls Police were on the scene for much of the day yesterday, as well as a home just north of the city limits, west of the intersection of Highway #32 and Pennington County State Aid #3.

Sheriff Kuznia says as many as three people were detained as officers served search warrants and collected evidence Monday. The investigation is on-going.
