Karen Lynn Chaboyea, 68, of Redby, MN died Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at the Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Monday, November 27, 2017 at the Redby Community Center with Fr. George Ross officiating. A traditional wake will begin at 1:00 pm, Sunday, November 26, 2017 at the Redby Community Center and will continue until the time of the service. Interment will be at the St. John's Episcopal Cemetery in Red Lake under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji assisted the family.

Karen was born January 5, 1949 in Red Lake, the daughter of David and Ida Mae (Rossbach) Chaboyea. She was raised and educated in Red Lake; where she was a guide and cheerleader. She attended Minneapolis Business College and nursing school. She worked as a nurse and accountant in various places in Minnesota; including Minneapolis, Duluth, and Brainerd. After raising her children, she moved back to Red Lake to work and live. She had a passion for foods from many different cultures, enjoyed cooking, gardening, home design, nature, flying, skiing, fishing, traveling, and collecting Native American art. She treasured her time with her great grandchildren.

She is survived by her mother Ida Mae Dickenson and loving stepfather Frank Dickenson; daughter, Kelly Mae Chaboyea Downwind; son, David Head; siblings, Wilhelmina Cobenais, Kathy Chaboyea, Muriel Dickenson, James Dickenson, Kim Baker, Rhonda Desjarlait, Shelda Dickenson, Debbie Chaboyea, Connie Chaboyea, Dorla Chaboyea, Arnie Chaboyea, Shelly Chaboyea, Gary Chaboyea, Bonita McGraw, Tracy Cook, and Holly Stanford; grandchildren, Alexis and Isabella; great grandchildren, Lennox, Alexia, Sophia, and Madison; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father David Chaboyea, brother Marlon Dickenson, and sister Polly McMaster.
