Tribes Men's Basketball Pushes Record to 5-1

The United Tribes Men's Basketball team finished a three game home stand 3-0 winning each night in impressive fashion.

On the first night of the home stand the Thunderbirds faced a well seasoned Stone Child College team. Stone Child was able to build a seven point lead going in at halftime. In the second half Tribes was able to out score Stone Child 63-37 and won the game 116-97. Xavier Norris got hot in the second half and led all scorers with 23 points and 8 rebounds. Rob McClain registered a double double with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Sam Pendleton (18 points), Montel Carlow (17 points), and Shayden Keplin(13 points) all reached double figures in scoring as well. Pendleton had a team high 8 assists.

On Friday night United Tribes used a balanced scoring attack to defeat the Sisseton Wahpeton College Mustangs 119-93. All 13 Thunderbirds scored in the contest and six different players scored in double figures. Sam Pendleton had 17 points and 7 assists, Shayden Keplin had 16 points, and Xavier Norris chipped in 15. Montel Carlow and Robert Beaulieu came in off the bench with 14 and 12 points. Rob McClain had another double double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

In the last game of the weekend the Thunderbirds raced past Presentation College 112-74. Again, Tribes was able to used a team effort and recorded 35 assists in the win. Shayden Keplin knocked down 7 three pointers enroute to 29 points. Sam Pendleton had 17 points and what is believed to be a school record 19 assists in the ball game. Montel Carlow once again provided a spark off the bench with 15 points. Rob McClain continued the double double theme by registering his third in as many nights with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

The Thunderbirds hit the road this week with games at Leech Lake on Thursday and Central Lakes on Friday.
