FATAL HOUSE FIRE IN HINES TOWNSHIP

On November 9, 2017 at approximately 3:39 AM, Beltrami County Sheriff’s office received a call from neighbors who heard a loud explosion and reported a residence engulfed in flames located in the 18200 Block of Lookout Tower Road in Hines Township. Responders from Blackduck Fire and the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office arrived on the scene to find the house to be fully engulfed in flames.

The Fire Department worked to suppress the fire but the home was a total loss. Investigators determined the home was solely occupied by the home owner, Oscar Clark Eckstrom, Age 76, of Hines who perished in the fire.

The next of kin have been notified. This case remains under investigation by the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office, Blackduck Fire and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
