RELIEF STAFF (PART-TIME)

EQUAY WIIGAMIG WOMENS SHELTER

Open: November 6, 2017 – UNTIL FILLED.

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Provide support, advocacy, crisis intervention, information, access to resources for battered women and their children. Work a variety of assigned shifts in all area of the program, reports to Director, part-time position; salary; DOQ.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Provide orientation to all new residents

• Provide crisis line intervention and supportive listening

• Provide information and referrals to appropriate resources regarding needs and choices of the battered women

• Willing/able to provide non-judgmental behavior

• Willing/able to model a non-violent attitude/behavior

• Be respectful to all women and children

• Assist in on-going development of resource files and information

• Provide women and children with scheduled activities including childcare

• Willing to provide "quiet time" for the women by implementing childcare

• Maintain safe and secure shelter

• Provide department procedures for women exiting the Shelter

• Maintain assigned work schedule and give appropriate notice of absence

• Be respectful of coworkers; willing to share knowledge gained to help another learn

• Maintain strict standards of behavior and confidentiality

• Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

• GED/High School Diploma

• Knowledge and understanding of the effects of domestic abuse on women

• No felony convictions and must never have been convicted of Domestic Violence

• Valid Minnesota driver's license and clean driving record

• Employment contingent upon successfully passing Pre-Employment Drug/Alcohol Test and Background Check
