Eligible voters from among the estimated the 4,000-member Mescalero Apache Tribe will vote Tuesday, Nov. 7, for a new president.
Incumbent President Danny Breuninger did not seek a third two-year term, which left the field open. Three men qualified to run in the October primary election. The two with the highest number of votes face-off for the general election. They are former multiple-term president Mark Chino, who garnered the most votes in the primary at 594, and Arthur “Butch” Blazer, a former council member and undersecretary for natural resources and environment under the U.S. Department of Agriculture, coming in with 470.
