Donut Boy Makes Stop at Mall of America to Thank Police

Hy-Vee Joins Effort to Thank Every Officer

Bloomington, Minn. (Nov. 1, 2017) – Tyler Carach is a 9-year-old boy who’s greatest wish is to honor police officers across America for the hard work they do, and Hy-Vee, Inc. is helping this ambitious young man along the way.

Tyler will be at the Mall of America on Friday, Nov. 3, to hand out donuts to local law enforcement officers.

“Cops are my best friends! When I grow up I want to be a K-9 officer and follow in the footsteps of all of my heroes,” Tyler said. “I began my program ‘I DONUT need a reason to thank a cop’ in August 2016, with a mission to thank every single cop in America by giving them their favorite treat...donuts.”

Tyler will turn 10 years old on Nov. 5 and his stops in the Midwest are part of his “Birthday with the Blue” road trip. He’ll be at 10 events, in 10 states, over 10 days.

“My goal is to have hundreds of officers attend each event and let me shake their hands, thank them for their service and serve them a donut,” he said.

Hy-Vee is donating more than 2,500 donuts and cakes for the event.
