Grove City Project Awarded $3.5 Million from PFA

ST. PAUL – The Minnesota Public Facilities Authority (PFA) approved more than $3.5 million in grants for wastewater system improvements in Grove City.

The Meeker County community will use the funding to demolish an existing facility and to build a three-cell stabilization pond system and force main.

The PFA awarded the project a $3.13 million grant from the Water Infrastructure Fund and a $380,485 grant from the Point Source Implementation Grant Program. The project also received a U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development loan of $4.13 million and grant of $1.95 million.

“The Public Facilities Authority is committed to protecting water quality and the environment throughout Minnesota,” said Shawntera Hardy, who chairs the PFA board and is commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development. “Making sure communities like Grove City have safe water requires strong infrastructure and vigilance.”

The Water Infrastructure Fund provides grants to help communities build high priority water infrastructure projects that would otherwise be unaffordable. Grants from the program are packaged with PFA loans or federal loans and grants.

The Point Source Implementation Grant Program provides funding that helps local units of government with water infrastructure projects that reduce waste loads, phosphorus discharges, nitrogen concentrations and other effluents.

The Minnesota Public Facilities Authority provides financing and technical assistance to help communities build and maintain infrastructure that protects public health and the environment and promotes economic growth.
