DEED Accepting Proposals for Competitive Grants

ST. PAUL – The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) is accepting requests for proposals from organizations for three competitive grant programs designed to increase economic opportunities for Minnesotans.
DEED will award two-year grants totaling $3.5 million through the Minnesota Support Services Competitive Grant Program, Minnesota Capacity Building Competitive Grant Program and Minnesota Southeast Asian Economic Disparities Relief Grant Program.
The programs will focus on economic equity, with the aim of ensuring Minnesotans have fair and equitable access to resources and opportunities that put them on the path to meaningful employment and a family-sustaining wage, as well as helping employers fill in-demand jobs.
“These three grant programs will provide vital resources to organizations that are committed to addressing deep economic disparities in our state,” said DEED Commissioner Shawntera Hardy. “These programs will allow us to move closer to an economy that works for all Minnesotans, everywhere in the state.”
The following is a brief description of each program and the amount of funding available:
Minnesota Support Services Competitive Grant Program, $1.5 million
The program provides support services for individuals, such as job training, employment preparation, internships, job assistance to fathers, financial literacy, academic and behavioral interventions for low-performing students, and youth intervention. Organizations may apply for up to $150,000.
Minnesota Capacity Building Competitive Grant Program, $1 million
The program provides financial and technical assistance to help nonprofit organizations carry out their missions.
Minnesota Southeast Asian Economic Disparities Relief Grant Program, $1 million
The program provides services that relieve economic disparities in Southeast Asian communities through workforce recruitment, development, job creation, capacity building assistance to smaller organizations, and outreach. Organizations may apply for up to $200,000.
Requests for proposals (RFPs) are posted here on the DEED website. Applicants must submit their proposals to DEED by 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 8.
Late proposals and faxes will not be accepted.
