Bemidji Pioneer: Local law enforcement earn national honors

WASHINGTON -- Bemidji police officers and detectives, along with the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office, and Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension agents and a deputy fire marshal, were honored in Washington on Tuesday for their role in rescuing a 5-year-old girl who was kidnapped in 2016.

Bemidji police investigator Heather Holden, Detective Michelle Leffelman, Detective Sergeant Mike Solheim, BCA agents William Bennett, Robert Fraik, Paul Gherardi, Jake Hodapp, Chad Museus, Don Newhouse, Adam Wright and Deputy Fire Marshal Kevin Mahle were all honored during the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s Heroes’ Awards.
