Back to School Fest 2017 in Red Lake a huge success - P13

RED LAKE, MN - According to Chemical Health Director, Salena Beasley, the 2017 Back to School Fest was a huge success, with Red Lake alone having 613 registered participants.

The Back to School Fest in :Ponemah was held earlier that day beginning at noon, and reports indicated theirs was also very successful.

Red Lake School District #38 also registered students today, and their numbers were also the best they have ever had, according to some officials of the district.

Beasley stated on Facebook they gave away a bag of school supplies to all the students, played carnival games, had face painting, a dunk tank, bouncy houses, along with art exhibits and music.

She also thanked all the partners in the event, donations and all the volunteers, including Red Lake School District, Red Lake District Community Coordinator, Red Lake Detention, Children's Healing Center, Indian Health Service, Pepsi, Big Stone Bouncy House, Wesley May Arts, Thomas X for the sound system, music and DJ services, Red Lake Youth Council and all the staff who helped along the way.

"We do it all for the kids," she said. "We had lots of happy kids [this evening]".

A meal was also provided by the school and was supposed to go from 4 PM to 7 PM, but they ran out of food and stopped serving around 6 PM.
