BEMIDJI—Beltrami Electric Cooperative has added another renewable energy source for its members, this time by harnessing the sun.

On the lawn outside of the cooperative's headquarters Tuesday, officials held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Northern Solar Community Garden, an array that members now have the ability to buy subscriptions for. According to Jared Echternach, the cooperative's CEO and general manager, the project came together because of the co-op's members.
