Conservation Officer/Game Warden

DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY

PRIMARY FUNCTION

To ensure that all Tribal, Federal, Fish and Game Laws are enforced and employees adhere to established rules and regulations, which involves field work, reports to Chief Conservation Officer, full-time position w/benefits, salary; DOQ.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Responsible for the basic concepts and standards of the police and conservation operations, evidence and crime scene

• Must be able to relate to people in a manner that allows for cooperation and coordination in the performance of duties and have the ability to make decision on information gathered from individuals

• Must possess skill in selecting, organizing and recording relevant information as well as the ability to communicate effectively both orally and written

• Responsible for writing concise and effective reports

• Must possess the knowledge and skill in professional techniques in dealing in criminal matters as well as skill in dealing with individuals in crisis and hostile situations

• Must be knowledgeable of Tribal, Federal and State laws

• Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

• GED/High School Diploma

• Must be 21 years of age or older

• Must not possess any felony convictions in lifetime and certifiable to carry firearms

• Must have completed Police Training at a Police Academy or able to complete

• Must have knowledge in the culture of the Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians

• Must be post eligible or able to be post certified

• Must be knowledgeable of Tribal, Federal and State Laws

• Must pass a background investigative check
