Bemidji Pioneer: Beltrami County to begin upgrading newly purchased transfer stations in Bemidji, Blackduck

BEMIDJI—After several months of negotiating, Beltrami County has finished a purchase with Waste Management for two transfer station facilities in Bemidji and Blackduck, marking a big step forward in a process began more than a year ago.

This summer, the county bought the two transfer stations and their equipment from Waste Management, as well as leasing rights for five remote trash sites with compactor units. According to Beltrami County Administrator Kay Mack and County Solid Waste Manager Brian Olson, the process started in 2015.
