July 21, 2017
HIBBING, Minn.—A 48-year-old Hibbing woman admitted Thursday to providing her boyfriend with a fatal dose of fentanyl, a highly potent prescription painkiller, in 2015.
Kimberly Ann Elkins pleaded guilty to a second-degree manslaughter charge before Judge David Ackerson in State District Court in Hibbing. Elkins admitted she was responsible for the death of 36-year-old Aaron John Rost, who authorities said overdosed after ingesting a portion of a prescription patch given to him by his girlfriend.
