Day 2 of the Annual Ojibwe Language and Culture Camp kicked off in Ponemah

PONEMAH, MN - On Tuesday, July 18, 2017, the annual Ojibwe Language and Culture Camp was held at the Ponemah Round House.
Hosted by Red Lake Chemical Health, Red Lake Economic Development and Planning, and Red Lake Head Start Immersion School, the three-day camp will feature canoeing and swimming, lacrosse, moccasin game, drum and dance, plant identification, crafts, birch bark making, leatherwork, drum stick making, traditional Anishinaabe teachings and more. It is scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, July 18 to 20, 2017 from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.

11:00am Introduction, Orientation

2:30pm Activity; Lacrosse, Drum & dance, moccasin game (boys)
4:00pm Circle time; review of the day & what they hope to gain tomorrow
4:30pm Traditional food dinner

11:00am Ojibwe words/phrases, activities of 1st day
12:30pm Lunch
1:15pm Breakout groups;
Medicine pouch making, birch bark making, Ojibwe bingo
3:00pm Activity; Drum & dance, Lacrosse, moccasin game (boys)
4:00pm Circle time; review of the day & what they hope to gain tomorrow
4:30pm Traditional food dinner
5:15pm Depart back to Red Lake
6:00pm Parent pick-up at Chemical Health
